PIHMS Big Part of V8s Success - March 2009

The Hamilton 400 V8 Supercar event is on 17-19 April.  130 students, (mainly Semester 3, 5, Degree and Postgraduate students) will work in the corporate hospitality tents in F&B Attendant and Bartender roles.  A few students will work as Team Leaders.

Over 17,000 corporate guests and 135,000 public attendees are expected at the event, which is billed as the biggest catering job in New Zealand.

The official caterer is Montana Catering and managing director, Peter Stark says partnerships with other organisations are the key to the event’s success but that PIHMS is their most important partnership.

Mr Stark says students involved in last year’s inaugural event did a fantastic job despite some of the challenges faced.  He says many things have been learnt from last year’s event and changes have been made.

He says he has high expectations of PIHMS students in terms of high levels of customer service, and presentation.

Mr Stark was given a demonstration of what PIHMS students can do when he visited the school to give students a briefing.  He dined in La Vista for lunch where Semester 1 students had themed the restaurant “Holden vs Ford”.  Even the mocktails were in the Holden and Ford colours of red and blue.
