PIHMS Attends NZ Hotel Industry Conference - May 2009

PIHMS was well represented for the first time at the 3rd annual NZ Hotel Industry Conference held at the SKYCITY Convention Centre in Auckland this month.  A number of Semester 5 students, Management Lecturer, Warrick Low and Jimmy Huang and Peter Petrichev from the Auckland Marketing Office joined PIHMS Managing Director Bill McCallum at the Conference to help out with an exhibition stand.  Several PIHMS students who are at Sky City for their six month industry placements were also working at the Conference.

The NZ Hotel Industry Conference was attended mainly by hotel managers from all around New Zealand and also from Australia. It featured a strong panel of international and local speakers and industry input, delivering up-to-date information on a wide range of hotel-related topics. Prime Minister, Hon John Key, who is also the Minister of Tourism, opened the conference and give a keynote address.

The full day conference provided PIHMS with many opportunities to network with hotel managers and head office management of hotel chains as well as other business people in the sector.
